Occupational Licensing Laws Harm Iowans

Should a person have to spend 600 hours in a classroom and over $12,000 in tuition to get permission to pursue her trade? Especially when the educational program has nothing to do with her trade? When there is no public safety benefit? At the Kirkwood Institute we believe laws like this are unconstitutional and sued to challenge them. After we filed our lawsuit the Iowa Legislature changed the law, giving our client complete victory.
